Reducing the use of single use plastic water bottles
In a bid to further reduce plastic pollution in our area we are encouraging groups to join the "Refill" scheme.
How the scheme works
Refill is a national water campaign which allows you to refill your own bottle with tap water at designated refilling spots across the UK. The aim is to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles. Participating businesses add their location on the Refill app and put a sticker in their window to let the public know they’re welcome to come in and fill up their bottle for free.
Why this is important
Reducing the use of single-use plastics is an easy way to lessen our impact on the environment. By providing free refilling locations around Broadland, people will be less likely to purchase a single-use plastic bottle. This means there'll be less plastic waste and less money wasted on unnecessary single-use plastic.
We're looking for local groups to promote the scheme
We would like groups to sign up to Refill and get actively involved in reducing single-use plastics in their area. If you're interested in joining the Refill scheme, or know another local group that is, please email [email protected] to get started. For more information please visit the Refill website.
If you're one of the first 15 groups to sign-up then you can win a Refill bottle
The bottle can be used by your group for a local competition to further promote the Refill scheme. Just email us with confirmation of your group’s sign-up to be in with a chance to win.
When you sign up your group will receive an information pack containing:
- stickers and posters to promote the project
- printable resources
- Receive a Refill bottle direct from the Refill scheme to use for your own local competition (in addition to the bottles we are offering to the first 15 groups to sign up!).
