Broadland District Council are once again holding their popular Marriott’s Way 10k race and Family one-mile Fun Run.
This year the race will be held virtually, with 25% of the race profits going towards Cancer Research.
Runners will be asked to complete the distance anytime and anywhere between Monday 28 September and Sunday 4 October 2020 and record their time via a wearable fitness or sports tracker so that it can be uploaded to an online leader board.
Councillor Fran Whymark said:
“We know that keeping fit is a great way to help protect ourselves from the worst effects of Covid-19. It’s important that we continue to keep as active as possible so, despite the restrictions we are giving people the chance to join in the Marriot’s Way 10k.
“Our virtual event is a great chance for people to challenge themselves and get active, whatever their ability. So, whether you’re a novice, or an experienced runner, sign up today and take part in the Marriot’s Way 10K”
In addition to the 10K, children and their families can help raise money for Cancer Research by running or walking in a one-mile fun run, which in the past has proved incredibly popular.
Businesses from across the district can also take part, with teams of 4 going head to head in a competitive Corporate Race.
Each runner who completes the distance will receive a branded course medal. The Council is keen to see pictures of the runners in action and is asking participants to upload their photos to social media using #marriotsoffire
The Council has chosen to raise money for the charity Cancer Research in memory of staff member Paul Anderson who sadly passed away on 6 July 2020.
