Broadland District Council is looking for volunteers to borrow litter pickers, grab their bin bags and take part in the Broadland Community Clear Up.
This popular scheme, which sees regular litter picks by residents take place across the district throughout the year, will be running alongside the Great British Spring Clean from the 20th March to the 13th April.
Cllr. Judy Leggett, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Excellence said:
“It is always magnificent to see so many communities come together to support the Broadland Community Clear Up each year.
“Environmental initiatives are a top priority for the Council and we would love to see volunteers from every ward across the district participate in this scheme and take responsibility for looking after our unique environment.”
The Council are calling for volunteers to organise their own litter picks in their local communities and is offering free equipment hire to groups and individuals who want to get involved. Groups can also arrange for larger amounts of litter collected to be picked up by Broadland District Council on its weekly street cleansing rounds.
By working together to collect litter the volunteers will be helping to protect Broadland’s natural wildlife and green spaces for residents and future generations to enjoy.
Their efforts will also help keep the streets of Broadland’s towns and villages places to be proud of.
