Have you seen an amazing new house? Has a property near you been transformed from dilapidated to desirable? If so, we would like to hear about it!

Broadland District Council are inviting nominations for the Design Awards and Enhancement Awards 2019.

Have you seen an amazing new house? Has a property near you been transformed from dilapidated to desirable? If so, we would like to hear about it!

The awards breakdown into two main categories: the Design Awards and the Enhancement Awards.

The Design Awards are for new houses or developments that have been completed within the last two years. The designs should make a positive contribution to their local area and the developers and designers should have made an exceptional effort to raise the design standard in Broadland. Nominations will be judged on their scale, design, use of sympathetic and sustainable materials and the way in which they sit with neighbouring properties or within a landscape. Previous winners include a house by Chaplin Farrant Architects and the Manor Reach housing development in Sprowston by Norfolk Homes.

The Enhancement Awards are for existing buildings that have been converted, altered, repaired or extended. The building must enhance the local area and the work to the building should respect the character, scale, design and materials of, or represent a considerable improvement to the original building. Previous winners include a contemporary but sympathetic large extension to a house by Lucas + Western Architects and a barn conversion in Weston Longville.

The Awards Panel, consisting of Broadland District Councillors, will visit the short-listed properties and the winners will be announced in the autumn. The winners will then be invited to the Community at Heart Awards on 29th October to collect their award.

Cllr Ken Leggett, Chairman of the Awards Panel at Broadland District Council said “Broadland is full of beautiful buildings and architecture, both historical and modern. We are very pleased to hold these awards once again to celebrate and recognise the best of those that have been constructed and improved over the last two years.”

Nominations can be emailed to conservation@broadland.gov.uk by Monday 9th September. Please provide as much information as possible about the property and photographs if possible but at least the address.
