Although Christmas is still several weeks away, arrangements are starting to be made for those festive parties, dinners and celebrations- often a difficult time for those wanting to watch their weight.
For people who want to manage their weight over the Christmas period, without missing out on the fun or having the chore of counting calories, Broadland District Council is offering top tips and advice in two, four-week weight management programmes in Hellesdon and Brundall.
The programme, called ‘Why Weight?’ is run for people throughout the year and is designed to help people to maintain a healthy weight with a few lifestyle changes. The special Christmas sessions will focus on how to enjoy yourself this season whilst keeping healthy eating habits.
Cllr Claudette Bannock, member champion for sport at Broadland District Council said:
“We all know that Christmas is a time when it’s easy to slip into unhealthy eating and exercise habits. The ‘Why Weight?’ sessions are a great idea for those who want to avoid these slips and have an enjoyable Christmas without being tied to counting their calories. Sessions are fun and friendly and prove that small changes in eating habits can offer big results.”
The self-referral scheme is for residents aged 16 or over and can benefit anyone who wants to learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sessions are £6 per week on a pay-as-you-go basis or £20 for the full course. The programmes will run weekly, on Wednesday afternoons from 22 November at Brundall Memorial Hall and on Monday afternoons from 20 November at Carrowbreck House in Hellesdon.
