Pupils from Hall School in Old Catton took part in their annual sports day on Thursday 6 July.
Around 80 pupils from the primary and secondary schools and sixth form enjoyed activities including cross country running, cricket and a tennis rally challenge at their sports day which was supported by Broadland District Council and Norfolk Cricket and sponsored by Norwich Airport.
All pupils at Hall School have significant and complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder and multi-sensory impairment.
Cllr Claudette Bannock, member champion for sport, Cllr Judy Leggett, vice chair and member champion for young people, and Cindy Dennis of Norwich Airport joined the pupils to celebrate the day and awarded medals and certificates to participants at the end of sports sessions.
Cllr Leggett said:
“The sports day at Hall School is always an enjoyable event for pupils and staff. I am very proud of Broadland District Council’s role in helping with the day- it was wonderful to see so many happy young people.”
Will Gant, PE Coordinator at Hall School, said:
"As a school, we have a varied programme of activities including lots of competitions out of school. The sports day is a chance for a bit of inter-class competition, giving pupils the opportunity to try new sports and activities with the support of Broadland District Council and Norfolk Cricket."
Broadland District Council has been helping with the sports day since 2009, providing financial and staff support and helping run activities on the day. This year, additional sponsorship came from Norwich Airport which provided medals and certificates for all of the young people.
