If your landlord is evicting you
There are a number of reasons why your landlord may wish to evict you. It could be because you have breached your tenancy agreement, you have rent arrears or because the landlord wishes to sell the property. Your tenancy agreement should show the notice period your landlord is required to give you.
You should feel able to talk openly to your landlord about repairs and issues to do with the property. A good landlord should never threaten to evict you simply for asking for repairs or making a complaint.
New rules are also now coming into force to help protect you from eviction if you complain to a private landlord about repairs or bad conditions.
You can find out more about eviction on the Shelter website.
