Security lights

Considerate use of security lights

If you have halogen security lights at your home or business, you will need to check them to ensure that they don’t cause a problem for people living close to you.

Make sure you:

  • angle your light downwards
  • use a lower wattage bulb (less than 150 watts)
  • check that your motion detector is not detecting animals or people in the street or neighbouring property
  • use a low wattage bulkhead or porch light, they can be safely left on all night, are very cheap to run and cast fewer shadows.
