Benefit Assessment Officers

Salary: £16,947 to £24,616 per annum (Salary commensurate with the skills you are able to bring to this role)

3 x full time posts, offered on a two year fixed term contract to support the service with the implementation of Universal Credit.

The Benefit Service is looking to recruit 3 motivated and enthusiastic individuals to help us further develop and deliver our customer focused service.

A phased introduction of Universal Credit within our district has commenced and we wish to assist our residents by providing digital support and personal budgeting advice, together with assistance in claiming Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.

The successful candidates will visit residents in their home and attend advice surgeries and collaborative events with partners, with the aim of helping residents apply on-line for Universal Credit, provide support with budgeting, whilst ensuring that Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction claims are administered to maximise residents’ income.

You will have exceptional communication skills, a positive attitude to new ways of working and be able to work without close supervision.

Ideally candidates will have recent experience in a Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, however, we are offering full training to candidates with the customer service skills we are looking for.

You will possess excellent verbal, IT and written communication skills and will also be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to a high degree of accuracy.
