Financial benefits for staff
In addition to your salary there are other financial benefits to working for us.
You are eligible to become a "pensionable employee" by joining the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). Your contribution is a percentage of your gross salary ranging from 5.5% to 12.5% and we currently pay a further 15% of your salary into the scheme. The LGPS is a defined benefit, CARE (career average revalued earnings) scheme.
To help you make your money go further we have negotiated a number of staff benefits include discounts with a wide range of local and national retailers including up to 20% off at Vodafone, gym membership, bus travel and garden centre discounts.
We also offer a range of flexible benefits such as child care vouchers and purchasing a cycle and IT equipment through salary sacrifice; reducing your tax and National Insurance contributions.
Any business miles you travel will be reimbursed at the relevant approved HMRC rate. A passenger allowance is also available at 5p per mile per passenger taken in your car.
Travel loan schemes
To assist with purchasing a vehicle that will be used to travel business miles you may be eligible for a loan. Loans are also available for annual travel passes.
These loans have an interest rate applied at 1% above the base interest rate and are only available for certain positions.
