Local Plan legal guidance
Local Plans have to be prepared using the following legal guidance:
- the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) 2012
- the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004
- the Localism Act 2011
- the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning)(England) Regulations 2012
The Council also produces a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) that sets out how it will involve communities and other stakeholders in the development of its Local Plan.
The SCI also details how the Council expects developers with significant development proposals to engage with communities.
July 2020: A temporary update has been produced in relation to the SCI, as a result of the Government’s Covid-19 guidance on staying safe and social distancing during the pandemic. This update can be found via the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) downloads page.
