older person's and disabled bus pass

If you are 60 years of age or over, or eligible disabled, you can enjoy free off peak travel on local buses anywhere in England.

We issue the National Bus Pass free of charge, to anyone who is eligible for the scheme, and permanently residing in Broadland. The pass entitles the holder to free off peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. Off peak hours are 9.30am until 11.00pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

A local enhancement (for Norfolk residents only) entitles you to free travel on any journey that starts in Norfolk between 8.30am and 11.00pm Monday to Friday.

what to do next...

  • Complete an application form, making sure you attach a recent passport-size photograph of yourself.
  • With your application you must provide proof of identity, proof of residency in Broadland, and proof of eligibility.
  • Applications can be submitted by post, or by personally visiting the Council offices.
  • If you need a replacement smartcard because yours has been stolen, lost or damaged an £8 charge applies. You can pay this by cheque (payable to Broadland District Council) or by card. We do not accept cash.

Once we have processed your application, your new style smartcard will be posted to your home address. The pass will show your name and photograph and the expiry date will generally be shown as your next birthday plus four years.
