hevingham (towns and villages)
Hevingham is a substantial village of around 1,150 people spread between 452 households. It lies between the A140 Norwich to Cromer Road and the B1149 Norwich to Holt Road, ten miles from the city of Norwich and four miles from the market town of Aylsham. The parish covers a wide area and has grown since the 1891 census showed a population of 760 to its current level of 1,150 in the 2001 census. Amenities include two public houses; The Fox and The Marsham Arms, a village hall built in 2000, and a school built in 1875.
st boltoph's church
The church, St. Boltoph's, was built in 1654 and has a nave, chancel, tower, south transept and a handsome porch. There are inscriptions to the families of Hobart, Thetford, Deynes, Leigh, and Scambler. The hexagonal font has mutilated figures under gothic arches.
This is a mainly rural agricultural area however there are a few businesses in the village. Public transport is good with regular bus services to Norwich, Cromer, Sheringham and Holt.
