where do I start?

can I speak to a business advisor?

are there any courses available?

what else should I consider?

If you are thinking about turning your dreams into a reality by starting your own business in the Broadland area, there are many things you have to consider.

where do I start?

The first thing to find out is what is involved in running your own business; What skills will you need? How do you know the business will work? What funding is available? How do you get started? All these questions can be answered by BCTS (Broadland Council Training Services).

can I speak to a business advisor?

If you would like to talk through your business ideas or need confidential business start-up advice and guidance, free one hour appointments are available to Broadland residents with our business advisor. Call our economic development team on 01603 430449 for more information and to book an appointment.

are there any courses available?

BCTS offer a specially designed monthly free three and a half day course programme to assist any Broadland resident thinking of starting their own business in the Broadland district. The first half day course entitled 'First Steps Towards Self-Employment' looks at your personal set-up and the skills and qualities needed to run a business. The three day 'Basics 4 Business' course focuses on business planning, legalities, marketing and finance.

BCTS also offer a range of other business courses ranging from IT to customer care to assist you and are offered at competitive rates.

All courses take place at the new Broadland Council Training Services training facility at Rackheath.

what else should I consider?

We would also strongly advice anyone thinking about starting a business to check with council departments how you and your business will be affected by regulations.

Please contact the following departments to discuss your business propositions where necessary:

Our economic development team and the business advisor will be able to help you with this.
