more than a thousand items brought to thorpe event

Residents brought 1099 items to a give and take electrical event organised by Broadland District Council in Thorpe St Andrew this week (February 19.) With 116 items finding new homes and 983 going for recycling, more than 6 tonnes have been kept out of landfill.

Council chairman, Shelagh Gurney, said: “It was great to see so much support. All sorts of things from bread-makers to irons, televisions and music systems were tested and passed on to new owners. There was no charge for anything but generous visitors contributed more than £130 to the Norfolk Wherry Trust.”
