chance to join west end professionals on theatre course
As the movie world awaits the red carpet glamour of next weeks Oscar ceremony, fifty children and thirty adults from Norfolk are being given the chance to grab a little piece of the 'lights, camera........action!'
From the 8 to the 12 April, West End Experience are holding a five day musical theatre workshop in Norwich, giving amateurs the chance to work with some of the West End's finest musical directors, choreographers and actors, ending with a full two hour concert performing on stage WITH the professionals! This year, fresh from the barricade, Jonathan David Dudley will be travelling to Norfolk, to train and perform with the students, as well as talking about his time acting in the biggest film of 2013, Les Miserables.
West End Experience Creative Director Craig Whiteley said 'We are absolutely delighted that Jonathan agreed to come to Norwich, at a time when he is so in demand because of the success of the movie. Its the fourth time West End Experience have been to Norwich, and the standard of the students here is incredible. I'm sure Jonathan will be pleasantly surprised, and I know the children lucky enough to get a place on the course will have plenty of questions for him about working on the Les Mis set!'
As well as working on musical numbers from Les Mis, the students will also be learning numbers from shows such as 'Grease' and 'We Will Rock You', all leading up to the Grand Showcase Concert, which is open to the public, at the Open Banking Hall in Norwich on the evening of Friday 12 April, where the students will be on stage with performers from some of Londons top West End shows.
Resident choreographer Claire Cassidy, who was herself a child star, playing young Cosette in Les Miserables in the West End, and also as one of the Cratchett children in the movie 'Scrooge' will be putting the students through their paces in the dance studio. She said: "This will be my third time in Norwich, and I always look forward to coming back here. There's an awful lot of talent in Norfolk, which gets overlooked because of the distance from London. But we try to give the students a real taste of what its like to work in the West End, as well as having plenty of fun!"
Anyone interested in taking part in the course at the Open Youth Venue in Norwich, can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07867 790073 for more details and a booking form. The five day course is £199 for children, and the evening course for adults is £89. Tickets for the final concert are available at ticketsource.co.uk.
