further information
Nigel, who is in his sixties, recently joined the scheme. "I have never been the sort of person to go to the gym. I went to my GP and he referred me to the Broadly Active scheme. I completed my 12 week programme but asked to continue on the scheme because I enjoyed it so much. It has made the world of difference to my life. Everyone there is in the 'same boat' and I felt much more comfortable in the Broadly Active environment than I would have done in a commercial gym."
Nigel attended weekly exercise classes and also started to attend badminton sessions. "This has given me the mobility and confidence I needed", said Nigel. "I have lost weight through the scheme and the whole process has made me more alert. It has helped my wife and family too as they are not worrying about me all the time; I now have the confidence to be able to do things again."
