private property compulsory acquisition
The Council has powers under the Housing Act 1985 and the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 which it can use in specific circumstances to ensure that it can achieve its objectives of enabling the provision of affordable housing in the District. This also ensures obsolete/derelict properties are not left to cause detriment to the District.
These powers have not been used to date, but are available should the occasion arise.
