Consumers within Broadland are now able to see how well a food business complies with food hygiene regulations by looking at the Broadland Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

This national scheme has been developed by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in partnership with local authorities. It provides information on food hygiene standards to help the public choose where to eat out or shop for food. Broadland has joined the FHRS and can see the positive benefits for local food businesses and the customers using them.

what to do next...

  • Search for the food hygiene rating of a food business in Broadland on the Food Standards Agency website
    • Each food business is given a 'hygiene rating' when inspected by a Food Safety Officer. The rating shows how closely the business is meeting the requirements of food safety standards, in particular: food hygiene, structure and cleanliness as well as confidence in management
    • The rating does not reflect the quality of food or the standard of service provided to customers
    • Food Business Operators will be asked to display their ratings certificates and door stickers
  • If you are a Food Business Operator in Broadland you can appeal your rating score, request a re-visit to be rescored and/or post a 'right of reply' against your entry on the ratings website
    • Each form to do this can be found below
    • Forms should be printed off, filled in and posted back to us, using the address at the bottom of the form
  • Contact The Food Safety Team if you have any queries or require further information

further information

Initially, only food businesses inspected since the 1 April 2010 will feature on Broadland's FHRS website. Further entries will be included as and when food businesses are inspected and rated as part of the 2010/11 inspection programme. This will ensure that only the current relevant assessments and ratings of food businesses are published.
