The Council presents an award on a biennial basis (very 2 years) in respect of a new building project within the Broadland district called the Broadland Design Award. The award scheme is not a competition but a way for the Council to encourage and recognise the special efforts which have taken place to raise the standard of design in the Broadland district. This is slightly different to the Enhancement Award, which is annual.

The 2011 design award has been awarded to Littlewood, Drayton. This development of 22 houses (5 affordable) replaces the burnt-out former Littlewood House. These are traditional rural forms which fit well with the wooded setting. Part of the site is to become public woodland and the scheme also includes arrangements for access to this and links to the surrounding community. The developer was Abel Homes Ltd, and their architects were Lucas Hickman Smith.
