The Conservation team at Broadland District Council are working together to try and help protect, preserve and manage both the natural and built environment from change and loss. Protection can be made by Conservation Areas, Tree Preservation Orders or Listed Buildings.

The Key roles of the conservation team are to:

  • To advise on the conservation of buildings which are of special architectural and historic interest
  • To protect visually important amenity trees through Trees Preservation Orders (TPO)
  • To provide advice to members of the public and developers to raise the standards of design in the district
  • To influence local plan policy on matters relating to the built and natural environment
  • To designate further conservation areas in accordance with the local plan
  • To give presentations on conservation/design issues on request to district council members, parish councils, amenity bodies as well as professional institutes when ever possible
  • To review 'old' area TPOs and to update in the interests of public clarification
