benefit renewal
From time to time the Council will need to review your Housing and Council Tax Benefit entitlement. This is to ensure your claim is based on your correct circumstances and your benefit payments are calculated accurately.
The frequency of your review is dependant on your circumstances and may vary from six months to three years. We will write and tell you when your claim is due to be reviewed, we call this an Intervention.
Regardless of when your claim is due to be reviewed you still are under a duty to notify to the Council any changes to your circumstances.
what to do next...
- You will receive a letter with your review which will include a four page form asking you to confirm your current circumstances.
- Your letter will also detail a date when a member of our visiting staff will come to your home to collect the form and the associated evidence we require.
- You should complete the form before the visit to help speed up the process. You should also ensure all relevant proofs of your circumstances are at hand when our visiting staff come round.
- If the visit is inconvenient, or you would rather return the form and documentation by post or hand you should contact the Council to rearrange or cancel the visit. The Visiting Officers direct dial telephone numbers and email addresses will be on your letter.
- View your benefit claim details online - see the information we are currently using to calculate your entitlement
