food business - safer food better business
Since 1 January 2006 food legislation requires that food businesses must have a written food management system. To help businesses comply with this legal requirement the Food Standards Agency has developed the Safer Food Better Business pack. The pack is aimed specifically at small businesses such as hotels, takeaways, pubs, restaurants and cafes. The food business operator customises the pack to develop a simplified food management system suitable for their business. The pack takes the drudgery and expense out of developing a food management system from scratch and will help the business to run more efficiently and improve food safety.
Broadland is taking part in the Safer Food Better Business Norfolk project involving Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Council, North Norfolk District Council and Norwich City Council using funding from the Food Standards Agency to provide subsidised training seminars and coaching in the correct use of the SFBB packs.
Cost
The seminars and one to one coaching would normally cost food businesses approximately £300. However, we are pleased to be able to offer a special discounted fee of just £45 per business (maximum of 2 representatives from each food business). The seminar is specifically aimed at and designed for the person who will be implementing the pack, normally the Food business Operator or the Head Chef, but is equally relevant to any staff members who will be using the pack. The seminars will also serve as a useful food safety refresher course.
If you have recently established a brand new food business in Broadland, you may be eligible to attend the seminar for a free! (please contact us for further details).
The SFBB pack is a useful staff training aid in terms of the safe methods you expect them to adopt in your business. It is NOT a replacement for formal food hygiene training which is designed to give staff with a good grounding of the fundamentals of food hygiene. SFBB training focuses on how to complete a written food safety management system.
Over 200 Broadland food businesses have attended seminars, received one to one coaching and been awarded certificates for successfully implementing SFBB. (See list)
